We all know that teaching online requires specific techniques, tools, and skills, and sometimes we are not familiar with them. Although online teaching may seem a great challenge for many of us, we should all be aware that at the same time it provides us with endless possibilities if we learn how to make use of all the resources that are available to us.
This course is intended to provide teachers with basic practical training that will allow them to make their virtual class accessible, fun, and enjoyable for them and for their students. The class will examine the main virtual platforms, teaching strategies as well as digital resources and tools that can be used to design a dynamic virtual class. All these resources can serve as a guide to transitioning to a virtual classroom and can help us integrate different needs and teaching methodologies.
The program is divided in four modules each one of them focusing in a different topic; transforming second language learning curricula in a virtual environment, second language versus CLIL lesson planning, developing communication practice, the learning of cultural skills and international exchanges in a virtual classroom, and adapting the virtual space and curricula to students with special needs. All through the program teachers will work on authentic material and revise their current teaching units, learn how to create new digital material and develop online evaluations.
Through these practical sessions, participants will find the answers they need to know in order turn their regular classes into a meaningful virtual learning experience.
