This interdisciplinary course is designed to introduce students to the most popular cultural movements of the late 80´s in Spain. It is then that fashion, creativity and design became social and cultural statements breaking away from the country´s conservative past. Ever since then, fashion has played a key role in shaping the Spanish international image and identity and has taken the Spanish textile industries to be amongst the top 10 in the world. In this course students will have the opportunity to explore the intricate relationship between fashion and culture; learn about the industry, visit different companies, meet with designers and professionals or visit fashion shows and events. The course will also explore some of the most successful Spanish fashion companies including Inditex Group, Mango, Camper, Desigual or Pronovias.
