The aim of this course is to provide an overview of the history and development of science and technology in Spain with a focus on the social and political changes in 18th Century Spain. Special attention will be placed on the development of new technological industries and sites such as the Royal Glass Factory developed in La Granja. This factory represented one of the most important industrial centers in all of Europe during the Enlightenment.
An in-depth study of the factory and its techniques will allow students to learn about the life, society, culture, and businesses of the time. Students will have the opportunity to explore new means of dialogue between the past and present; history and technology by developing a VR project.
