English For All is a unique International Project developed between Infinite Spur, Fundación Prodis, and Clarion University of Pennsylvania. The goal of the program is to teach English as a second language to Spanish university students with special needs.
Our English teachers are graduate students from the Department of Communication and Speech Disorders, and they connect every week to offer virtual synchronic English classes to our Spanish students. This personalized setting provides our Spanish students with the opportunity to learn and practice English with native speakers, to interact with people from the United States, to learn about their language and cultures, and to participate in an international experience from the safety of their homes.
This initiative started as a pilot program in Summer 2020 as an extracurricular experience for both US graduate students and Spanish students with special needs. This pilot was a success and now we offer the program all through the academic year. This special program also offers a direct and authentic research opportunity to explore the different needs and successful strategies for the teaching of English as a Second Language to students with special needs. The program follows an adapted basic core inventory for the A1 level of the CEFR, is based on the communicative methodology, integrates gamification strategies, and makes use of different virtual platforms such as Zoom and Moodle.
This program is not a teaching training program, it is an English Language Program specifically designed for Students with Special Needs.
