Online Course Description
Industrial heritage is part of any country´s historical collective memory. Each site and monument constitute a silent testimony of its past, and when societies that give rise to them disappear, they become the living trace of the previous everyday life of its people. This is the case of Spain and all its magnificent buildings and sites that were built over time.
This course will examine five different sites that are representative of the different historical periods, cultures, and peoples that lived in Spain. Through the study of the different Spanish monuments and sites, students will learn about the presence Roman Empire, the influence of Muslim Al-Andalus, the changes of the Renaissance, Imperial Spain, the industrialization that came with the Enlightenment, innovation, and sustainability of contemporary buildings and rehabilitation sites.
In this course, students will become aware of the importance of recovering these industrial testimonies that are crucial for understanding the soul and spirit of our Spanish civilization and culture today.
