MUSEUMS & ART COLLECTIONS IN SPAIN
This course is designed to introduce students to some of the great art collections of Spain but also to the most avant-garde and unique museums of the country.
Students will learn about the origin and development of some of the most famous art collections (both public and private) in Madrid, Málaga and Barcelona. They will also learn about some of the most recent and exceptional centers where the building and the collection may be equally important; this is the case of the Guggenheim Museum in Bilbao or the City of Arts and Sciences in Valencia.
This course proposes an immersion in the world of museums, not only art collections, but all centers of science & culture as well. It has a strong practical component and students will have the opportunity to visit different sites, museums, exhibitions and galleries, while conducting meetings and interviews with museum administration personal, and curators. This course is designed for a general audience and students do not need to have a specific training in art or art history.
All students registered in this program have the option of taking an additional Spanish language class.
