Our Program
Welcome to English for Us, a program specialized in teaching English to students with special educational needs. Our goal is to offer accessible classes to all. We encourage the practice of functional English to promote educational inclusion, empower students' self-esteem and social skills, increase their employability, and develop international awareness in our unique students.
We have been working on this project since 2015, but in the summer of 2020, we decided to create a fun, challenging, and valuable summer activity for students who typically do not have the opportunity to travel abroad to practice English. With this premise, and with the help of our colleagues at Clarion University, we took our students "abroad" through virtual English classes taught by professors from the United States.
It was an incredible and transformative experience that opened students to the rest of the world.
Now we continue.
What are you going to learn?
Learning English is very important because it helps us be an active part of the world. It helps us build an inclusive setting at school, university, work, and society. In addition, it allows us to travel, meet new people and cultures and make friends in other countries.
Students will work on the A1 / A2 levels of the Global Scale of the CERF
⦁ Can introduce themselves to others and ask /answer questions about personal details, such as where they live, people they know and things they have. Family and friends and basic descriptions.
⦁ Can describe their background in simple terms, their immediate environment and things and events that are important to them.
⦁ Can communicate simple routine tasks, things they like, and what do they do in their free time and during the week.
Students work on the four skills: speaking, listening, reading and writing.

How it Works
-
Classes are online, and you can connect from home. Our teachers are native English Speakers, and we connect with them in real-time.
-
The classes are twice a week, and you choose the days and times best for you.
-
We connect via Zoom and make small groups so that students can participate in class, interact with their classmates, and keep similar levels.
-
We have several levels of English to be able to adjust classes well. (Preliminary, basic I, basic II, and basic III)
-
There is no need to buy books or materials. You will access our Google class, where you can find all the materials, exercises, videos, games, and recorded classes if you cannot go to class one day.
-
In addition to the classes, we have games and international cultural activities so that you can meet people from other countries.
-
At the end of the course, we you will receive and academic certificate and a diploma.
How do we teach?
English for Us offers quality teaching and complete immersion in the English language and culture. Classes are delivered by native teachers. Our methodology integrates the CEFR, the communicative method, and easy-to-read materials. The teaching-learning process emphasizes direct communication between students, the group, and the teacher. Contents are adapted to the interest and context of our students, who are the true protagonists of the learning process.
01
The goal of the class is to acquire the basic competencies of the English language that allow students to express themselves in familiar environments in the educational, personal, work, or social contexts.
02
Our classes follow the European Framework of Reference for Languages, and we work on all language skills: speaking, listening, reading, and writing. We work with different levels of English: Preliminary English, A1, A2, and B1.
03
Students use different digital technologies to practice directly and synchronously with teachers and students from other countries. We integrate several digital platforms, Zoom, and Google Class, to facilitate a more personalized experience.
04
Our methodology is based on adapting the contents and the learning experience and keeping a constant evaluation to monitor progress. We use gamification for this. The result is that students learn by playing, promoting healthy competitiveness and a spirit of improvement.
05
We want to promote international and intercultural understanding among our students by working in an international virtual environment with native speakers from different parts of the world.

Cultural Program
As part of the English Summer Program, students will participate in a program of virtual activities that will bring us closer to the life and culture of other countries. We will also play games, take virtual trips, listen to music, and more.
Students in each group will work on a Team Project on a topic of their choice. Led by our expert teachers, the group will decide how they will develop the project and how they will present it to the rest of the groups.
All projects will be displayed in our virtual classroom.
